Welcome to Tigh-Nan-Ubhal Guesthouse, Tongue
(OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND)
Tigh-Nan-Ubhal Guesthouse is situated in the Village of Tongue which sits on the far North coast of the Scottish Mainland. It is the ideal location to place yourself and explore some of the "Real" Scottish Highlands.
The first thing you'll notice on your arrival in the village is Ben Loyal - "the Queen of Scottish Mountains" which rises to 764 M (2,483 FT) & to the west we have Ben Hope, which is one of two Munroes close by (peaks above 3,000Ft) Which are in very easy travelling distance.

The area surrounding Tongue has many historical places of
interest and none more interesting or dramatic as the ruins of 14th Century Castle Varrich. Caisteal Bharraich (anglicised to Castle Varrich) stands on the inlet overlooking the Kyle of Tongue. It is a MacKay stronghold dating from the 14th century and is believed to have been built on the foundations of an old Norse fort.
